Wine:Prado Rey Origen
Varieties: 95% Tempranillo, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot.
History of wine: Twenty years ago we revolutionized the way wines are made in the Ribera del Duero with the launch of a new category within aged reds: the Oak category. We now present Prado Rey Origen, a pioneering and groundbreaking wine since its inception that bursts into the renewed market and stronger than ever with an innovative aging in centuries-old clay jugs that maintains our current spirit of fusion between the old and the modern.
Pradorey Origen is a blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which has gone through different phases in these two decades: in its first vintage, that of 1997, it was characterized as a wine with a lot of wood for its length. passage through oak barrels, a little easier to drink than the traditional aging in the area, but with some complexity. It continued like this until the 2015 vintage in which we focus the focus on the terroir and reduced the aging in barrel to three months giving way to the elegance and the primacy of the fruit on the wood. And finally, Origen 2018 to which we have left another month in oak barrels to give it a rest in a clay jar and thus achieve an earthy and mineral point that transmits kindness and complexity instead of power and rusticity. The result is a tasty, measured and very drinkable red wine that pleases for its liveliness, balance and consistency
Elaboration: Young red wine matured for two months in European and American oak barrels. One more month in clay tubs.
Service: Serve between 16 – 17ºC.
Pairing: Cold spiced and marinated cold cuts: chorizo, ham and Iberian loin, sautéed or grilled mushrooms, pizzas and meat pies and soft cheeses.
