Description
Wine: Casar de Burbia Godello
Varieties: 100% Godello.
Introduction to wine: In our land, the godello variety is known as the rooster’s eye or as a white Picudo, when it was mistakenly thought to be a mutation of the Leonese red Picudo. Here it was among us for a long time, not always well valued, nor very widespread. In Casar de Burbia, we bet on this variety to make targets with storage potential. Casar de Burbia Godello it is our first white and not therefore the simplest. This has been made with godellos from the middle estates of Valtuille de Arriba, at an altitude of 600 meters, where the soils are dominated by medium-sized clays and stones. The altitude of these vineyards makes the maturation slower and the harvest is delayed an average of 20 days compared to the lower plots.
Alcohol: 13,5%
Soil type: medium-sized clays and stones. Soils richer in organic matter, for this reason the vineyards present there, were planted in trellis, manual harvest.
Winery: Casar de Burbia
Designation of Origin: DO Bierzo
Elaboration: After a pre-maceration of the cold must, we carried out a fermentation at low temperature in stainless steel tanks that extends over an average of 45 days, depending on each harvest. We then carried out a long rearing with their fine mothers, of about eight months. In this wine we initially work with several tanks, with the intention of working the aroma and the mouth separately. Finally, to couple and get the best in each of its tasting phases.
